The Phunk Aspect: Diversitology

One astonishing thing that I see when I look deep into the heart of the Championship Gaming Series is the diversity in the players. The CGS is not a league for just the stereotypical "nerd" video gamer, but it is a melting pot of many cultures, ethnicities, and of the genders. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would say, "We have broken the manacles of segregation." Although he was talking directly about Civil Rights in America, it can be used to strengthen the outlook on the integration of such different people into one video gaming league - The CGS.
So what brought such a diverse crowd to the CGS? Is it the money? The fame? The innovative idea? Who knows, but I can take a wild guess as to that all of these factors played a huge part in it one way or another. The offering of the CGS have set a precedent in this world we are so eagerly entangled. Such an entanglement is voluntary and provides fame, money, and a gratuitous amount of respect for being involved in the first true "professional" league.

Diversity is the strength of the CGS.
The North American and European divisions of the CGS are quite obviously the most diverse of all of the divisions. There is no one team in the Region 1 that is of all the same ethnicity. Statistically the teams are incredibly diverse. Five out of Six teams in North America have at least one player of Asian Decent. Four of Six teams have players of African American decent. Although only minorities, North American teams also have Europeans, Hispanics, and players of Middle Eastern decent. That means that in the North American Region - Region 1 - alone there are players from four continents- Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. These players are natural born citizens from these continents or plain descendants from them. In my opinion, four of seven continents is pretty darn good. As I stated above, the CGS is a melting pot. Therefore it fits directly into the belief that the United States is a melting pot of the Earth.
The European Region of the CGS is slightly different in its state of diversity. Rather than being based on ethnicity, the European diversity is on a country basis. A great example of the European diversity is the Berlin Allianz. Only one player on this German team is actually German. The rest are Norwegian, French, Swedish, and Ukrainian. Such a diversity helps the team succeed by incorporating numerous personalities and numerous mindsets to the Berlin table.
Why is diversity such a good thing? Why is diversity even worth talking about? Diversity leads to success. Diversity allows different ideas and different methods of problem solving to be put into place within a team. For example: if a team is playing poorly and the team is not diverse at all, no one will be able to solve the problem from the inside because no one on the inside will think outside the box. Diversity is a powerful thing and Diversity makes the CGS that much better.
